Bush blesses outsourcing to India

US President George W Bush, during his visit to India, sent a strong message in favour of outsourcing that surely would boost the confidence of Indian IT & BPO industry about future growth prospects that greatly depend on the US policy.

"America will reject protectionism," Bush said categorically in reference to the reservations expressed in some quarters back home. "People do lose jobs as a result of globalisation. There are two ways to address the problem. Either to restore our protective walls or to educate the citizens to get other jobs in the 21st century," Bush said while stating that his government would welcome competition in line with globalisation. He said that the American people should know that there was a huge market out here to gain.

VNU – an awaited decision

After an aborted merger plan with IMS and less than expected revenue growth for 2005, VNU is in a state of indecision. The company has accepted a 7.5 billion-euro ($8.9 billion) offer from a group of buyout firms at 28.75 euros a share. On the other hand a group of VNU shareholders is pressing the Dutch company to break itself into three divisions and sell each separately. Analysts are concerned that the company might not get the 95 percent of shareholders needed to approve the deal.

BMRA – MRS integrated their services

BMRA has integrated its services with MRS and the former will cease to exist with effect from April 2006. The integration of services brings a unified training and development package and a cohesive programme of conference, awards and networking events. The integrated body will deliver not only the unification of services but also the unity of purpose for the market research sector.
